Dr. Wazni's Biography

Dr. Wazni is a Cerebrovascular Neurologist with the expertise needed to diagnose and treat a wide range of blood vessel disorders in the brain and spine. He is the Medical director of Neuroendovascular Surgery at St. Mary Medical Center.  After completing his medical studies, Dr. Wazni completed his internship at the Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan and Neurology residency at Hofstra-Northwell-School of Medicine in Manhasset, New York. He then completed a one year ACGME accredited fellowship in Vascular Neurology followed by a two year UCNS accredited fellowship in Neurocritical Care at Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin.  He then continued his training at the Medical College of Wisconsin completing a two year ACGME equivalent fellowship in Neurointervention. 

At the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Wazni has been the co-investigator on many multicenter, prospective, randomized control trials including SWIFT PRIME, THERAPY, SEPARATOR 3D, and SOCRATES. He is the co-author of the book chapter on Intra-arterial Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke, his most recent publication is on the treatment of anterior communicating artery aneurysm with the Pipeline Embolization Device. His current research interest involves the use of MR perfusion in identifying delayed vasospasm in patient with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. His profession memberships include the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, Society of Neurointerventional Surgery, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American Academy of Neurology.
